Sam Rayburn has continued to rise this week to 164.73 but is showing signs of slowing down. The water is still stained in the mid lake area.

Sam Rayburn turned hot this weekend as the water temperature jumped up into the mid 50 to 60 in some of the pockets. Lots of males moved up along with some females. Working around the brush with senko’s and Stanley spinner baits seemed to be the ticket to catch a lot of fish. We must have caught 25 fish just moving around jumping from spot to spot not staying to long anywhere. Each pocket was a little different, some time the Stanley spinner bait did the best and others the senko’s did the trick. If the weather holds out the next few weeks will be awesome as some fish move up and stage on points before they move up to spawn. The trap bite will increase as these fish stage in ditches and drains. Its looks like it’s going to be a lot of flipping in the buck brush. Put on some good line and retie pretty often so if you hang into one of those big girls she won’t broke off. Remember these fish are doing their thing to supply the lake with more fish for future fishing trips. Handle the fish with care and get them back in the water as quick as you can.

Remember the Sharelunker Program entries started on October 1 and runs thru April 30th. If you haven’t heard, it encourages anglers who catch a 13 - pound- plus largemouth bass to lend or donate it to the TPWD for spawning purposes. There are some great benefits doing this and one of them is that the angler receives a fiberglass replica of the bass. There is a 24- hour pager at 1-888-784-0600 Check out the Program rules at their site along with the Benefits. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/visitorcenters/tffc/sharelunker/

Crappie; There have been a few crappie caught in the grass on the points off the main lake on traps. They are on the move back down the river but it will still be slow for now.

The new pontoon has plenty of room for everyone so get your group booked for a spring crappie trip.

God Bless
